The Client:
Marks and Spencer

What was the requirement?:

CML have worked with M&S for over 20-years. The relationship started when CML were invited to provide consolidation services for M&S back in the early 1990's. Since this time CML have supported M&S by providing warehousing services for many of its suppliers.

In more recent years, M&S have steadily increased their direct purchasing from off-shore suppliers and needed a partner to act as a holding centre for this merchandise.

Why were CML approached?:

In 2007 M&S approached CML as an existing partner who already had an understanding of the M&S downstream supply chain. CML benefited from a central location and a warehouse management system that could be configured to interface with M&S systems within the required timescale.

What did CML do?:

CML developed an implementation plan that involved updating their inventory control systems, configured facilities, recruiting and training of staff to handle the operational and volume requirements

What was the outcome?:

6-years later, CML is still handling the M&S direct business and is still one of the key supply chain partners to M&S. CML continues to support M&S with other supply chain initiatives, solely or as part of the M&S "One Team" joint initiative.

“I would have no hesitation in recommending CML to any company, who is seeking a professional logistic service provider that is sufficiently flexible to react to its customers changing supply chain needs and sufficiently innovative to collaborate on supply chain improvements.”
