Colleagues at CML helped raise over £8,000 for charity during November with a series of events raising money for BBC Children in Need.
In late October, the Company asked for volunteers from within the workforce to become the Children in Need representative for their department, with the aim of helping to organise events to raise money. Once this group was in place, they went out and organised events and games themselves within their teams and across site. Staff really threw themselves in to fund raising and over three weeks there were numerous raffles, sales, games and sponsored events.
As a culmination to the three weeks of events, on Friday 16th November, 67 colleagues at CML participated in a sponsored relay around the perimeter of the building. Prizes were awarded for best fancy dress as well as the fastest laps by a man and a woman. Entering this relay helped to raise funds for Children in Need and offered some fantastic prizes for the winners.
The “CML Children in Need Marathon 2012” took 3 hours 16 minutes and 35 seconds to complete, with the fastest lap around the building coming in at an impressive 2 minutes and 24 seconds.
In total, the efforts of CML colleagues, supported by some of CML's suppliers, raised £4,200.17 for Children in Need. As part of CML's charity commitment for 2012-2013, the Company agreed to match any money raised by colleagues in the form of a donation to Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough, CML's adopted charity. Rainbows will therefore also receive a donation of £4,200.17. This means that the efforts of everyone at CML during November have amounted to an amazing total donation of £8,400.34. This money is going to two exceptionally worthy causes, and is something for which all colleagues at CML should be very proud of their efforts.
