Office Depot’s UK Challenge

Having successfully won a vendor managed service to supply every Waitrose and John Lewis retail outlet across the UK with a range of over 1,500 stock keeping units (SKU’s), including consumables and equipment, it became apparent that Office Depot needed to quickly source an efficient and fully-integrated supply chain solution.

With a requirement to fulfil the needs of Waitrose and John Lewis, the solution had to be able to seamlessly manage the movement of bulk goods direct from Office Depot's suppliers to a warehouse for pick, pack, and order fulfilment before being sent out for onward delivery to all John Lewis Partnership retail branches.

To ensure it found a partner who would integrate with its delivery provider in an agile and adaptable manner, Office Depot considered a number of outsourced solutions before appointing CML.

CML’s capability to pick single units, have complete flexibility of its systems solutions, as well as have experience in managing substantial SKU ranges, were just some of the reasons why it was selected by Office Depot. The ability to provide real time management information, including outbound and reverse logistics traceability, as well as automated collection advice instructions and updated POD status’ on delivery, were also vital when choosing its integrated supply chain solution.

With the pressing timescales and need to find a responsive and flexible solution, I am delighted that the CML solution integrates flawlessly and that the operational teams have delivered an innovative service to an impressive standard.
