CML has been supporting a local primary school by volunteering staff time to help complete a number of renovation projects.

The volunteers responded to a call from Sherrier CofE Primary School to assist with moving and repainting two sheds, clearing the disused school courtyard and cleaning up the allotment area.

CML allowed those volunteering to take a day’s paid leave from their regular duties at the end of June so that they could contribute their time to the projects. A total of six staff took part in conjunction with another local firm, TT Electronics – Semelab.

HR Assistant Letisha Harbidge, who was among the CML volunteers, said: “When we received the message from Sherrier Primary that they were looking for local businesses to lend them a hand, we jumped at the opportunity to offer our support.

“We have a very active charitable side to the business and like to do our bit for the local community by whatever means we can, whether through donations, raising awareness or offering practical help.

“It was a pleasure to be a part of these projects, the artwork on the sheds looks fantastic and I’m sure staff and pupils alike will appreciate the improvements.”

Bob Young, Facilities Manager at Sherrier Primary, said: “The results of the project have been magnificent. The children love the artwork on the sheds which has made the school a much more colourful place.

“We like to get local businesses involved because people who work at those businesses often have children who come here, so it gives parents a chance to make a difference, it’s good for the companies to be involved with and it benefits the school too. It was a pleasure to work with the volunteers from CML and we look forward to working together again in future.”
