What’s it like to work at CML?
Paul Bambrough-Smith from the international freight department is this month's CML 'Employee in the Spotlight'.
Name: Paul Bambrough-Smith
Job title: Global Logistics Manager
Where do you live? Horndean, Hampshire
Department: International Freight
How long have you worked for CML? I originally worked for the Melller Group for over 10 years, mainly within international freight. The company, which is a supplier of accessories, home and beauty products, formed CML in the 1990s. I’ve now worked for CML for 10 years.
Can you sum up an average day in your job?
I am responsible for the smooth running of the International Freight department which I carry out with my supervisor. My time is split between managing the bonded warehouse data, assisting with various freight and customs projects and working in a consultative role for our customers to help with technical import and export questions
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I have always enjoyed the variation. One day I have a role that is primarily focussed on helping to obtain sales, the next can be very clerical.
What do you like most about working for CML?
The people definitely make CML. I don’t think I’ve come across another business with the same level of staff retention. The warehouse does have a higher seasonal flex due to agency colleagues, as is common in the industry, but a lot of the administration staff have very extensive experience with the company which I think is reflected in our service.
Personal career highlight of the year?
Being involved in the successful tender for a start-up fashion brand that we are all very excited about.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I have vintage cars, a boat, a caravan and I manage the Petersfield U9 Rugby Team.
